# renmy runtime — The Salesforce Dev Toolchain (Local Apex Runtime, Tests & Deploys)

Run real Salesforce Apex locally — no Salesforce org. renmy runtime executes your Apex, SOQL, DML,
triggers, and flows against an embedded PostgreSQL database, then tests, debugs, and covers
them — on your machine, in milliseconds. No Docker, no JVM. (This is Salesforce Apex, the
programming language of the Salesforce Platform — not Oracle APEX.)

renmy runtime (formerly Nimbus) is a complete local Salesforce Apex runtime — not just a test runner. It bundles a step
debugger, a language server (LSP), a browser Dev UI, mutation testing, code coverage,
an MCP server for AI agents, and a local Salesforce-compatible REST/gRPC server. It is the
local inner development loop every other language ecosystem already has, built for Salesforce.

And when the tests pass, the same tool ships them. `renmy deploy` is a gated one-shot
Salesforce deployment: it snapshots the source into a content-addressed bundle, runs local
validation and tests against that bundle, validates the identical bytes in the target org,
then deploys (Free tier). `renmy release validate/deploy` splits validation from deployment
with an immutable, portable receipt and Salesforce quick-deploy reuse — validate on one CI
runner, approve, deploy from another. `renmy sf <anything>` passes every current and future
Salesforce CLI command through unchanged, and `renmy toolchain sf` pins the exact `sf`
version for reproducible CI. One tool from first keystroke to production deploy.

Fast is the point: a typical Apex test completes in tens of milliseconds, real SOQL and DML
included, and suites of thousands of tests finish in seconds. The embedded PostgreSQL does not
slow it down — it runs as a stripped-down local process tuned for test workloads (unix-socket
transport, fsync/WAL/autovacuum off), so renmy runtime gets a real database's correctness at
in-memory speeds. The measured times for four open-source suites, run locally and in a

## What renmy runtime does

renmy runtime replaces the inner development loop for Salesforce developers. Instead of
pushing code to a scratch org and waiting minutes for test results, renmy runtime runs
everything locally:
